The Spanish Society for Logic and Philosophy of Science has awarded the prize for the best master thesis of 2022-2023 to APhil alumnus Alex Cotet, for his thesis "God and Necessity. The Ontological Argument and Plantinga’s Modal Argument", supervised by José Martínez (University of Barcelona)

Congratulations to the winner! The prize consists of a 500 € endowment, in addition to the publication of the work in the SLMFCE Journal.

New philosophy journal!

Acto y Potencia, an academic philosophy journal aimed at undergraduate and master’s students.

The journal was created to bridge the gap between students and the professional practice of philosophy in academia. Its mission is to provide them with the opportunity to publish their own papers and present their own talks.

The journal recently opened the CFP for Volume No.1. Students who submit an article will be eligible for the Premio Sócrates in philosophy, which includes a 250€ prize.

APhil alumnus Christian Carbonell, graduated in 2022, has been awarded the Extraordinary Master's Award for his  Master's Thesis 'Intentional Is Not Voluntary: An Epistemic Approach'. Congratulations, Christian!

The PhD course this year will be taught by Prof. Susanna Schellenberg (Rutgers, https://susannaschellenberg.org/). 

It will take place in presence from Tuesday May 21 to Thusday May 23, 10-12, at the Seminari de Filosofia.

The annual PhD course is a mandatory training activity for LOGOS PhD students or those registered in the philosophy branch of CCiL. The course will be based on a new book Prof. Schellenberg is concluding: Subjective Perspectives

The Faculty of Philosophy is promoting an Open Guidance Day on April 12th.

For those interested, it will be a great opportunity to get to know the MA programmes in Philosophy of the University of Barcelona.

Adrià Solís Peña (University of Barcelona) has been awarded the XXII Premi Pensa d’Assaig Filosòfic for a philosophical essay for his work: ‘Per què (no) és un deure moral menjar carn?’
