Lisa Herzog

The Inaugural Lecture for the academic year 2025-2026 will be delivered by Professor Lisa Herzog, from the University of Groningen. Her latest monograph is Citizen Knowledge. Markets, Experts, and the Infrastructure of Democracy. The current focus of her work are economic democracy and the philosophy of work. We will provide more details about the Inaugural Lecture and the reception to new students in due time.

Ernesto Sosa

The PhD course this year will be taught by Professor Ernesto Sosa, from Rutgers University. 

Tuesday June 10, Thursday June 12 and Friday June 13, 12-14, at the María Zambrano Seminar

The annual PhD course is a mandatory training activity for LOGOS PhD students or those registered in the philosophy branch of CCiL. The course will be based on a new book Prof. Sosa is concluding: Dawning Light Epistemology and Domains of Trust.

Valencia Philosophy Lab Summer School

Mental Representation and Consciousness

The Valencia Philosophy Lab organizes a Summer School on Mental Representation and Consciousness, which will take place at the University of Valencia on June 16-20, 2025.

The Summer School is addressed to PhD students, post-docs, and early-career researchers. It will cover four sub-topics:

The pre-registration period for the academic year 2025-2026 will open on 1 March 2025. Deadline for applications is 15 June 2025. Candidates are welcomed to send expressions of interest to the APhil administrator at master.aphil@ub.edu

The Spanish Society for Logic and Philosophy of Science has awarded the prize for the best master thesis of 2022-2023 to APhil alumnus Alex Cotet, for his thesis "God and Necessity. The Ontological Argument and Plantinga’s Modal Argument", supervised by José Martínez (University of Barcelona)

Congratulations to the winner! The prize consists of a 500 € endowment, in addition to the publication of the work in the SLMFCE Journal.

 

Acto y Potencia

New philosophy journal!

Acto y Potencia, an academic philosophy journal aimed at undergraduate and master’s students.

The journal was created to bridge the gap between students and the professional practice of philosophy in academia. Its mission is to provide them with the opportunity to publish their own papers and present their own talks.

The journal recently opened the CFP for Volume No.1. Students who submit an article will be eligible for the Premio Sócrates in philosophy, which includes a 250€ prize.
